Join Representative Roybal Caballero for her fall Plática (conversation) on how New Mexico can align economic and environmental justice through unified, people-centered policy. Drawing from Secretary Deb Haaland’s experience leading the U.S. Department of the Interior, this discussion will explore legislative and executive strategies that uplift communities while protecting land, water, and workers.

We are grateful to welcome three powerful leaders whose work reflects the heart of environmental and economic justice in New Mexico:

 • Chenoa Scippio, Santa Clara Pueblo and Navajo (Naschitti), serves as the Environmental Justice Project Coordinator with Tewa Women United. She brings a strong foundation in Population Health and Native American Studies from the University of New Mexico, centering this conversation in Indigenous community leadership and practical, community driven environmental justice work. .

 • Marco Alarid White, Public Benefits Attorney at NMCLP, where he works to address hunger and improve public assistance programs for children and families in New Mexico. Marco worked with hunger relief non-profits during the pandemic and is also committed to improving mental health policy and access to psychiatric care.

 • Gail Evans, Attorney with the Center for Biological Diversity, representing NM LAWS, an alliance of frontline, Indigenous, youth and conservation organizations who filed suit to hold the state accountable to its duties under the New Mexico constitution’s Pollution Control Clause.
